Job Profile Summary:
The Director of Evaluation, College of IT (COIT), is a service line leader within the Evaluation Department, an executive member of the Evaluation Senior Leadership Team, and a University Leader. The Director leverages expertise, gained through wide-ranging experience and expert-level knowledge, experience and skills related to sound assessment practice, competency-based education, and Western Governors University to lead personnel, processes and innovation in assessment operations and evaluation delivery. Working through a high performing team of people leaders, the Director establishes the functional strategies, goals, and practices to ensure students persist and achieve on-time academic progress, a high level of satisfaction with their WGU experience, and ultimately, graduation. The primary focus of this position is on the evaluation of competency by subject matter experts, while also being a key stakeholder and collaborator with respect to other methods of validating competency and achieving the appropriate mix of assessment and ensuring the quality of WGU’s service to students. The work of the Evaluation Department Director has a critical impact on the success of department and university operations and on student experience and success
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Responsible and accountable for the department budget for one or more business units, or parts thereof, ensuring accessibility to post-secondary education through cost-effective, innovative means of assessment and evaluationAs a well-networked leader of the department and the university, the Director is a role model to others, championing company direction and standards. Beyond WGU, within the higher education community, the Director is a champion of competency-based education, in the WGU model, and a champion of sound assessment practice, providing thought leadership and collaboration. Through strategic and long-range, innovative thinking, the Director invests in improving and protecting WGU intellectual property and the credibility of the WGU degree.In the diverse and complex environment of WGU assessment operations, the Director must analyse situational considerations and data within the context of an in-depth knowledge of WGU and an evaluation of a variety of cross-functional factors, including but not limited to fair assessment practice and mission-focused student obsession. Through reporting people leaders, the Director leads teams to develop methods, techniques and evaluation for projects, programs and people related to assessment and evaluationService line activities are directed and controlled by the Director through subordinate people leaders who are held accountable through established performance management processes to meet WGU’s promise to students and employees. The Director actively develops and coaches direct reports, makes hiring and compensation decisions, and may mentor others in the organization to develop future leaders who think creatively and embrace changeThe Director interacts frequently with department and university executives and occasionally with external business associates. The Director may represent WGU with presentations and authorship in areas of expertise.Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a University Degree or equivalent.10 years specific experience which generally includes a minimum of 5-7 years leading a team
Department-Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree in Business, IT, or related field.Minimum 5 years leading a team.Minimum 3 years working in competency-based education.
Preferred Qualifications:
Terminal degree, PhD, Doctorate in business, administration, or related field preferred.Professional experience within the field of IT.Experience managing teams in a remote work environment.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
